Known previously as Juguang New Village, a military dependent’s village, Penghu Bay Resort has its history rooted across two different historical eras: Japanese colonization, and the exodus of the Republic of China Government from China. Juguang New Village is one of the oldest military dependent’s village in Taiwan. Penghu Bay Resort offers 60 individual rooms. Each room is its own bungalow. Before the advent of red brick, concrete, and materials like steel rebars for construction, much of Penghu’s residences were made from coral stone or Penghu’s specialty: basalt. Every room in the resort is separated by a wall of coral stone, and when viewed from the outside, one can see the individual basalt pieces that form the outer wall of the bungalows. Walking in the quiet resort, you can feel the tranquility and beauty of this historic village. Every corner of this resort is filled with history and nostalgia, transporting you through time back to the simpler 50s and 60s Taiwan.
