INFOIntroduction

Xiuchuan Street was a bustling commercial street during the Qing Dynasty, more than a hundred years ago. The old dock of the Sanxia River was located here, attracting numerous merchant ships and presenting a picturesque scene. Adjacent to the riverbank stood the Zaisu Temple, the earliest center of worship in Sanxia. The street gradually became surrounded by traditional buildings as it catered to the residents' daily needs for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. However, during the Japanese colonial period, commercial activities in this area declined, and most shops moved to the current Sanxia Old Street. Nevertheless, Xiuchuan Street and its surroundings still retain a strong sense of ordinary life and are considered one of Taiwan's most historically valuable old streets. To revive the beauty of the old houses, Gandle Creative Studio has reinterpreted a historic building as an independent homestay called "Xiuchuan Residence," through a minimalist and gentle approach. The interior decoration preserves the charm of the old house, with nostalgic floor tiles and warm yellow pendant lights that naturally exude an indescribable sense of familial intimacy. We hope that during your short stay here, you can experience the nostalgic atmosphere of the past in this contemporary setting, and create wonderful memories with your family, friends, colleagues, and classmates.
